Talk less do more
Talk less do more
While working for the business ecosystem, popularly known as BE, this morning the author was talking with one of our senior promoters Mr Sanjay Sonawani.
He told the author a recent story of his Japanese assistant.
This is the short story of Fozio Osho.
For at least 10 days Osho was assisting Sanjay. Osho was never seen carrying a mobile handset with him anytime in those 10 days.
But Osho never missed a single appointment whether it is regarding morning attendance, breakfast, lunch, all other important meetings and tours throughout Japan. Osho has not missed a single event planned.
Sanjay was thinking that Japan is a very backward country or undeveloped country. Because he could hardly see any mobile in the hands of other Japanese also.
Osho used to come in the morning at 7 o'clock and used to leave by 10 o'clock in the evening. He was obedient and polite. Osho never sat in front of Sanjay throughout the tour. Whenever Sanjay looked at Osho Sanjay found him in a bent position and in an attentive manner. Sanjay was always thinking why this person doesn't have a mobile!
On the last day when Sanjay was supposed to leave Japan he suddenly saw Osho talking on the mobile for only 10 seconds. Within no time the mobile disappeared in the blazer of Osho.
It was shocking for Sanjay. He asked him, "I have never seen you using the mobile. How have you been living without your mobile for the last 10 days?"
Osho politely answered, "Sir, in our country we do respect time. Once the schedule is fixed everybody knows that everybody will follow it. So we need not to talk again and again about the schedule and the reminders of the schedule. We knew that everybody will reach the spot and will do his work. In our country we talk less and do more, sir."
It was a lesson from Osho to learn. Sanjay further told me that, "We don't have such a kind of work culture in India. We waste a lot of time talking. We labour like a donkey. But the output is not up to the marks of our expectations. We do little and expect more. In India we must have a sense of time."
Is it really necessary to attend to the mobile everytime someone rings me?
Lot of friends of my age and profession and other consultants have anxiety, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and many other lifestyle diseases.
First thing you do when you buy a mobile is start lying. Second thing you do is give false promises. Third thing you do is to struggle your whole life to keep those fake promises. It's on mobile we have started fixing our goals for the person on the other side. Where are we? Can we find ourselves in this lifestyle?
Mobile seriously was an extension of the ear and tongue of the user. But nowadays it has become a part of our personality. Actually living in illusion we started living in the intoxication of mobile. Everything that harms your body and mind is an addiction. We must come out of it.
The author has already curtailed his screen time.
Actually, the author has a schedule of calling back twice a day, at 10:00 in the morning and 5 in the evening. It does mean that the author never pick up the phone. Rather I always call back. Emergency messages reach me this way or that.
Other times also there are visiting hours in the office of the author. For dictation work there is separate time. Dictations are lying up one by one. For these operations separate times slots have been allotted by the office of the author one by one to the clients. This all is set and schedule. For this work there is no need for mobile calling.
Rather the author how to avoid mobile totally while reading and giving dictation. This work requires a very high degree of concentration. A single phone call can break the link. Breaking the link means loss of that particular client. The person on the mobile just wants to know whether I am in the office or not. Is this a reason somebody can break the concentration of the consultant?
Many of the clients do not bother to talk on the phone and get consulted. Many don't get appointments and start talking on mobile. Actually it is not good to talk about your case when you are not in front of the lawyer. There should be a "telephonic consultation appointment". Disappointment should be just like "the office visit appointment".
The clients who expects professionalism from the lawyers should be professional, and vice versa.
Therefore, today the author has messaged his fans and clients.
The messages as below:
"Officially let me announce that because of too much office work I will be available on mobile and social media only for a limited period and purpose. Extremely sorry for the inconvenience. For your convenience please be in touch with my office. My office numbers are: 8554972433, 9049862433 🦅"
I love you all. I am the servant of the society. For the better service, all follow the rule "talk less, do more."
